We've always had hebes in our garden, too, (in Ireland), and you've just taught me where they're native to! I love them because there are so many different ones - some can look like a total other plant, and you google it and are like "nope that's a hebe as well"!

That's something I miss about life in Canada - the little libraries outside people's houses, so exciting walking around wondering if a book will still be there from one day to the next

That is such a beautiful pic - the best of all things. Books literally being swaddled by nature

I’m blown away by the variety too! So many colours and leaf sizes! Fun for plant nerds like us ☺️ And books swaddled by nature – thank you for that perfect little descriptor. Looking forward to sitting down and taking a breath and replying to your email soon x

So funny to see this comment now, as I just planted out two of the "rhubarb and custard" variety! They had been in pots over winter, and I've been waiting and waiting for a chance to get them in the ground as that's where they really need to be, but the soil has been so sodden from so so much rain I decided to go for it now we've had some sunny days and I prepped the beds as best I could to try to help it not get so waterlogged - so fingers crossed for the cuties!!

Looking forward to your email, but no stress at all obviously - I can't remember exactly, but I think it was a very rambly one (me?! rambly?!), and those are always overwhelming to try to respond to. Whenever you have a moment, take that breath, make yourself a cup of tea, and see what comes out :)
